*If you often have issues with dry nasal cavities/bleeding, please use a humidifier in your bedroom the night before or in the hours leading up to your appointment, as it may help reduce the likelihood of a bloody nose.

Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test FAQ

  • Aren’t Covid-19 Tests Free? Yes, many tests are free! Here’s a link to find free local testing sites from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Due to the convenience, cost, and speed to administer this test in a rapid fashion, we’re currently unable to bill public or private insurance.
  • How will I receive my results? You will be texted your results as soon as they are processed. If you do not have a mobile phone, we can also email your results. When you finish signing up for your test, you will be directed to Simple Report to provide additional information to receive your test results through their secured website.
  • Does this test include a QR code? Our PCR test does not include a QR Code required by some countries for international travel. Before signing up, please verify with your airline/destination what requirements they have for PCR tests. The results will be sent from SimpleReport.gov, a United States Government testing database.
  • Do you bill insurance? Due to the nature of this rapid test, we are unable to bill insurance. Under the CARES act, many tests can be  covered by providers. We always recommend calling your insurance company in advance to confirm they’ll cover the test before signing up if you need to be reimbursed. After your test is resulted, you can email lab@oswaldspharmacy.com and request a digital form that includes all of the necessary information to submit for a possible reimbursement.
  • When should I take this test? If you’ve been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, unless you’re symptomatic, wait 5-7 days after that contact to schedule your antigen test. That’s when the most accurate results will be read. If you’re symptomatic, you can sign up for a test as soon as you’re able.
  • Will this test allow me to travel/work if someone needs proof? It depends. This is an antigen test. Check with whatever agency, organization, or business is requiring a test. Some require PCR/molecular tests, which this is not. If they allow rapid antigen tests, this will work. We also offer antibody tests here.
  • I’m asymptomatic, can’t I just walk in? Unfortunately not. We need all tests to be taken from your car, parked in the back of our store. Our workflow and choice to put the test in the back of the store is to protect patient privacy, our technician, and other customers from those tests that are positive.
  • Why can’t I schedule a test further than 1 week in advance? If you have symptoms, you want to get tested as soon as possible. If you have come in contact with someone, and are asymptomatic, wait 5-7 days from the day of possible exposure before getting tested. That’s the time the virus could potentially be incubating, but won’t be detectable until days 5-7. Put simply, if you think you were exposed, wait 5-7 days to be tested if you remain asymptomatic.
  • How Accurate is the Test? There’s over a 99% accuracy for measuring positive test results. There’s a 98.2% accuracy for negative tests. That’s why negative tests are considered presumptive. Please follow all CDC guidelines on safety practices even after testing negative.
