The Best Mobility Scooter For Travel 2019

A few months ago, Pride Mobility released the Go-Go Folding, a new folding mobility scooter. Unlike previous folding mobility scooters, however, the Go-Go Folding weighs only 50 lbs. (51 to be accurate) without batteries.

The 50 lb. milestone is a big one—the lighter the better. While many modern mobility scooters breakdown into pieces that are lighter, putting them back together can be challenging. Most users (and everyone I have talked to in person) would prefer a mobility scooter that can travel in one piece.

Being light is one thing. Being usable is another. So just how much did Pride jam into this new folding scooter? Let’s take a look.

Pride Go-Go Folding Scooter Features

Starting with the ‘features’ seems like a good idea. Features I’m talking about are luxuries—we’ll get to the folding and transporting later.

The Go-Go Folding Scooter comes standard with a gray vinyl folding seat. Armrests can be purchased separately for the seat. The Go-Go Folding will still fold with the optional armrests.

Two-sets of anti-tip/storage wheels come standard. Anti-tip wheels on the Go-Go Folding double as storage stabilizers. The wheels balance the unit when its folded and prevent dangerous tips while in use.

Adjustable tiller. This Go-Go’s driving tiller is adjustable, allowing any user up to 250 lbs. to find a comfortable driving position.

Front and rear LED lights, as well as a backlit console, come standard.

The Folded Go-Go Folding

The Go-Go Folding’s main feature, however, is its namesake. This scooter folds. You’ve probably seen a folding scooter before. Bulky, heavy, and barely smaller than an unfolded model. This scooter looks like a folded mobility scooter should.

With folded dimensions of just 37”x32”x13”, the Go-Go Folding Scooter is one of the smallest units on the market. After being set to a folded position, this Go-Go can be stored upright or laid down. Fitting your folding scooter into a small trunk or closet has never been this easy.

Don’t worry—folding the GGF is an easy 3-step process. Check it out:

  1. Fold the Seat down
  2. Pull the seat deck lever
  3. Fold the scooter to a locked position

That’s it. Unfolding is just as easy:

  1. Pull the locking lever
  2. Unfold the Scooter
  3. Lock the deck and seat into place

This scooter can be set up by anyone. If you can find someone to load or unload the Go-Go Folding from your car, you can use this scooter anywhere.

How Does the Go-Go Folding Scooter Drive?

The second-best part of the Go-Go Folding Mobility Scooter must be how smooth the drive feels. With a 2.3” ground clearance, this miniature travel scooter feels like a full-size.

A generous 32” turn radius allows drivers to make tight indoor turns without issues. The 32” turn radius really sounds good when you remember that the Go-Go Folding is a 4-wheel scooter. 4-wheel scooters aren’t supposed to make turns like 3-wheel models.

Is the Pride Go-Go Folding Right for Me?

This is the question you may be asking yourself. Let me help you out.

The biggest downside of the Pride Go-Go Folding is the 250 weight capacity. If you or whoever will be using the scooter is over 250 lbs., the Go-Go Folding will not work.

If you regularly use your current mobility scooter to make long trips, the Go-Go Folding Scooter won’t be a replacement. The GGF’s battery capacity and motor are not built for distance like full- and mid-size scooters.

If you take your scooter on many short trips—grocery shopping, eating at restaurants—the Go-Go Folding may be just what you’re looking for. If you have help getting a scooter in and out of the car, the Go-Go Folding is the best transportable mobility scooter on the market right now.

Utility, quality, and convenience have never come together in a mobility scooter like this.
