January 1st, 2023 marks the beginning of my third year running the ol’ family pharmacy here in Naperville. I’m grateful for our wonderful team (pictured on the right) that continues to care for our community in our 148th year of business. Thanks to our Operations Manager Karen for creating the wonderful collage of our team in 2022!
Changes in Naperville
While walking down Jefferson street in Downtown Naperville last month I realized it’s been over half my life now that the pharmacy had moved out of Downtown Naperville. We left 39 W. Jefferson in 2004, our home since 1875. Those newer to Naperville probably remember the location as Ted’s Montana Grill.
With Downtown Naperville changing, and the lack of ample parking by the pharmacy, it was a hard decision, but necessary to keep taking care of our customers in an ever-growing and changing city. We only had 3 parking spaces on our property downtown. And as anyone who’s tried to park in the ground lot on the SE corner of Van Buren and Main street knows—it’s a hard lot to find a spot in!
Luckily moving to Naperville Plaza allowed us to double the size of the store to 10,000 sq. ft. (to which we’ve since added an additional 5,000 sq. ft. for our medical equipment department) and expand our offerings of gifts, games, toys, and, of course, puzzles (which by the way, are 20% off all month long to celebrate National Puzzle Month)! We also installed our contract United States Post Office unit, which, according to Google Reviews, is Naperville’s highest-rated USPS station.
Naperville’s Favorite Pharmacy
Our goals moving into 2023 are to expand our telehealth options with in-store testing (for flu, COVID, RSV, strep, and UTIs) and an immediate physician appointment over the phone to get you a prescription as fast as possible when necessary. We’re also going to continue expanding our line of Oswald’s Exclusive items from our name-branded lip balm to our unique Naperville-themed merchandise. We’re also looking to remodel our front checkout counters to serve our customers more efficiently during the busiest times of the year.
