Can you believe it’s been almost ten years since we opened the doors to our current location in Naperville Plaza? On July 24th, 2004, Oswald’s Pharmacy moved south just one mile from our original location in downtown Naperville—and what a ride it’s been.
When I walk through downtown Naperville, where Oswald’s Pharmacy proudly stood for its first 129 years, the changes are hard to miss. The downtown district has transformed into a bustling hub of shopping, dining, and activity. And while we loved our time in the heart of Naperville, the congestion and lack of parking made the decision to relocate a no-brainer—and honestly, one of the best moves we’ve ever made.
These days, I rarely hear “I wish you were still downtown.” Instead, we hear a lot of, “Thank goodness I don’t have to parallel park to get my prescription.” With easy parking, great neighbors like Casey’s and Trader Joe’s, Naperville Plaza has helped us better serve our loyal customers and welcome thousands of new faces. In fact, over two million people have walked through our doors in the past decade. That’s a lot of birthdays, prescriptions, puzzles, and mobility scooters!
Speaking of legacies—Anderson’s Bookshop, which my Grandfather opened above the pharmacy in 1964, are celebrating a milestone of their own this year – their 50th anniversary! Here’s to Anderson’s Bookshop’s special golden anniversary year.
If you’ve been part of our story—whether it was during the downtown Naperville era or here in the Plaza—thank you. Your support has allowed us to keep putting our community and our customers first for nearly a century and a half.
And don’t forget—our Annual Sidewalk Sale is coming up July 10th–12th! Stop by for deals on candles, gifts, books, puzzles, toys, and all kinds of quirky surprises you didn’t know you needed. Trust me, there’s something for everyone.
Here’s to another decade—or five—of serving Naperville families.
