The last 2 weeks here at Oswald’s have been busy. Our COVID-19 Antibody Tests have been going on for most of the day, every day. Here are some of the big changes we’ve introduced since the start of testing just 2 weeks ago.

Walk-In COVID-19 Antibody Tests

As we have refined the process for accepting patients, we realized we could fit more people in. We’re still offering sign-ups on the website, but walk-in appointments will now be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Walk-in COVID-19 Antibody Testing will be available most days, so please check our schedule before you visit.

Waiting times for walk-in appointments may vary, so please call us if you have any concerns about wait times.

3 Licensed Phlebotomists

Our testing team now consists of 3 part-time, licensed phlebotomists. The testing team has been fully trained on how to administer tests and give you results accurately and quickly.

If you’d like, our pharmacists can explain the significance of your results and whether you need to take any additional steps after the antibody test.

Rapid COVID-19 Antibody Test Results

We use FDA-Approved rapid testing for our antibody tests and they really are fast. Your entire appointment—paperwork, blood draw, testing, results—will take just 15 minutes.

Making sure people get in and out quickly with accurate results was our goal getting into the testing realm and we’ve already hit it! Our current goal is to maintain this rhythm and get anyone who needs testing in and tested as quickly as possible.

Easy Online Signups

We are still offering online COVID-19 antibody test booking on our website. We have been continually refining the process and it keeps getting easier. All you need to do is select a date and time, click your shopping cart to check out and enter your payment method. That’s it!

The Current State of COVID-19 Antibody Testing

COVID-19 antibody tests and studies are constantly changing—just like everything involving COVID-19. The lifespans of COVID-19 Antibodies are still being researched with the current estimates ranging from 2 to 6 months.

Asymptomatic people who have had COVID-19 may have weaker antibody lifespans than those who had minor to severe symptoms.

COVID-19 may be able to re-infect those who have already have it but who have weak antibody counts. This development is still under a lot of microscopes, but it means that even having antibodies (especially if you contracted COVID more than 4 months ago) MAY not protect you from getting infected again.

The Value of COVID-19 Antibody Tests

To ensure the accuracy of our testing, we’ve worked with the American Proficiency Institute (API) to confirm our Assure Tech POC Covid-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Devices are giving us accurate readings. The API samples are non-infectious plasma that allows for the qualitative reporting of Total, IgG, IgM, and/or IgA antibodies.

The value of an accurate antibody test can allow you to feel safer around your family. Whole family tests can allow you and your family to safely continue regular routines in your own home. Antibody tests do not show that you are immune to the virus, simply that you have or haven’t had the virus in the past 6+* months (*6 months is the timeframe listed by the manufacturer of our tests).

Above all else, regardless of the results of your antibody test, you need to stay safe and continue to practice social distancing and hygiene. Regularly washing your hands or using hand sanitizer, wearing a mask, and keeping any busy areas at your home or place of work clean can make all the difference in the world.

If you have any questions about our COVID-19 Antibody tests, testing process, or anything else, please give us a call or send us an email. We want to make sure everyone has the option to get tested. Stay safe and stay healthy!
