Fun Activities While You’re Stuck at Home

We are all going through a difficult time right now. Quarantines and Social Distancing measures have changed our daily lives. Many of us are working from home—with a spouse working at home and the kids studying at home. We can’t even hug our loved ones!

So, how can we take our mind off all these things that are driving us crazy? A little old-fashioned distraction, that’s how.

The gift and toy buyers here at Oswald’s (Alecia & Kathleen) have been very busy finding the best at-home activities, games, and more.

Puzzles

Oswald’s Pharmacy owner Bill Anderson has been a lifelong puzzle fan. We have always kept a great selection of puzzles in-stock at the store. That being said, we have never bought puzzles like we are right now.

We have more than doubled our inventory of puzzles. We have great selections from manufacturers like White Mountain, eeBoo, New York Puzzle Company, MasterPieces, and Galison.

Our inventory is friendly for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking for a 35-piece block puzzle or a 2000-piece collage puzzle, we have you covered!

We have been adding puzzles to our webshop. Buy online and have your order delivered or ready to be picked up at your convenience!

Board Games

If you’re into puzzles, perhaps we can pique your interest with a board game? Board games for the whole family are very popular right now. Classic games like Uno and Monopoly are fantastic for family settings.

We have a great selection of contemporary hits too. Games like What Do You Meme? and Disney Villainous will delight players of all ages.

We have been adding board games to our webshop. Buy online and have your order delivered or ready to be picked up at your convenience!

Books

What our book section lacks in size it more than makes up for in selection. Our current book selection is based on a list Alecia and Kathleen have been going through: Time’s 30 Books and Series to Read While Social Distancing.

This list is a mix of books written about situations (both fiction and non-fiction) similar to the COVID-19 outbreak. The list contains everything from Award-winning novels (Cormac McCarthy’s The Road) to page-turning thrillers (Max Brooks’ World War Z).

Our in-store book sections also features other popular books not found on the Time list. Biographies, high fantasy, children’s books, and more, all in-stock at the store.

We’ve recently added a small selection of Naperville books to our web shop.

Activity Books

If your kids need something to keep them busy, you need to stop by the store (with PPE gear, of course) and see our new activity books. We have huge activity book selections from Klutz and Melissa & Doug that will keep kids occupied for hours.

Activity books are a great alternative to screen time. If your kids need to stay busy but already spend too much time with a tablet or TV an activity book may be just what you need.

Stay Safe and Healthy

We have taken every precaution to make sure both our team members and customers stay safe and healthy throughout the current situation. We want everyone in our community to stay healthy while still being able to get the things they need.

We offer both curbside pickup and local delivery (FREE, with prescription orders!) on everything in the store. Our delivery team is equipped with masks, gloves, disposable booties, and disinfectants to make deliveries as clean as possible.

Our employees are all provided with protective masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants. We encourage all customers to wear masks during the COVID-19 outbreak to keep everyone healthy. Keeping our store clean and our employees and customers healthy is one way we can contribute to stopping the spread.

If you need anything delivered, please check out our webshop or speak to one of our personal shoppers. We can put customer orders together and get them to you the SAME DAY (orders must be placed before noon).

We appreciate the understanding our community has shown during this difficult time.
