StrongBack Product Page

The StrongBack Mobility line came into being because of a camping chair product line. The camping chair line in question, however, is no ordinary line. Strongback camping chairs were designed for long-term use, ergonomically designed to support the back. An adjustable Velcro strap allows users to customize the location and firmness of lumbar support—no cushions needed!

StrongBack Mobility with Superior Lumbar Support

Strongback poor posture vs good lumbar support posture
The idea behind StrongBack technology.

The lumbar support offered by the strongback camping chair seemed like something wheelchair-bound people would love to have—sitting in a chair all day requires all the support you can get! Strongback talked to many regular wheelchair users and decided to jump into the mobility market.

A few changes needed to be made in order to convert an ergonomic camping chair into a quality wheelchair. Aside from the lumbar support offered by the camping chair version, the StrongBack wheelchairs are designed with a seat the aligns the pelvis for even better posture. Pressure on the coccyx region was also taken into account, resulting in a chair that naturally relieves tailbone pressure.

The Strongback camping chair was fairly heavy, coming in at just under 12 lbs. The wheelchair versions were designed with this in mind; the structural integrity of the camping chair was not compromised when it was converted to a mobile unit. The StrongBack Transport chair comes in at just 19 lbs, while the wheelchair is just under 26 lbs.

Customize Your Comfort

All StrongBack Mobility units come with adjustable swing-away footrests, allowing accommodation for any user. The entire line also has the ability to fold not only in the middle of the seat, but also halfway up the back, making traveling with the StrongBack a breeze.

If you have been looking for a wheelchair or transport chair that is naturally comfortable, you need to take a close look at the StrongBack. The entire Strongback mobility line supports up to 300 lbs. and is adjustable enough to accommodate anyone between 5’0” and 6’4”, making it a great item to test for people of all sizes. The lumbar back adjustment allows users in the height range to hit the ‘sweet-spot’ on their back (the area that needs the most support or relief).

Strongback mobility products are all available in two seat sizes; 16” and 18” widths. 18” seat widths are the current ‘standard’ for wheelchairs, fitting most people from 150-250 lbs. very comfortably. 16” seat widths are easy to maneuver and ideal for teenagers and smaller adults.
